We have temporarily sidelined this website's utility for OWA dues payment.  If you paid dues for the 2019-20 season using the PayPal utility, the one under the "Dues" tab, please let our Treasurer, Jocelyn Plourde, know.

If you would like to pay dues for this (2019-20) season, please do so in person using cash or a cheque to Jocelyn or Don at the next meeting.  Return to this site for an announcement about when website payment is restored.

2018-19 Season Launch: 11 September 2018

Are you geared up for the 2018-19 season of meetings of the OWA?  Has the finish properly hardened on your summer opus for Show and Tell?  No problem if you need an extra week, since our first meeting for 2018-19 will be on the .S.E.C.O.N.D. Tuesday in September, the 11th.  We move back to first Tuesdays in October. Meetings run from 7 to 9 PM, and doors usually open at 6:30 if you'd like to help set up.  We meet at the Western intersection of Baseline and Centrepointe, in the basement of the Bethany Baptist Church.

February: Half-Blind Dovetails with Gary Devries

Feb's first Tuesday falls on the 5th.  Something good on TV that night?  Watch it on Netflix or have a friend record it.  Why?  Because Gary Devries is going to demonstrate the cutting of half-blind dovetails for drawer fronts and the subsequent fitting of drawer fronts into casework. Maybe we will learn the secrets of how Gary accomplishes in a two hour meeting what takes some of us two days to do. As always we meet from 7 to 9 PM in the basement of the Bethany Baptist Church, at the intersection of Baseline and Centrepointe, the West one as Centerpointe meets Baseline twice.  Come as early as 6:30 if you would like to help set up chairs.  And bring your dry indoor footwear. The Ottawa Woodworkers Association welcomes new members.  Just show up and register at the desk.  You may attend two meetings at no cost before deciding whether you'd like to join.

March's Meeting, Tuesday the 5th.

The next meeting of the Ottawa Woodworkers Association is coming up on March 5th.  Let's hope the temperature rises some by then.  If it does, don't forget your dry, warm, indoor footwear for the gym.  As always, meetings run from 7-9 PM, but doors open at 6:30-ish for setting-up.  It's in the basement gym of the Bethany Baptist Church at the Western intersection of Centrepointe and Baseline.  If you're not a member, note that new members are welcome to attend up to two meetings, no charge, before making a commitment to join.  The A La Carte menu includes tool swaps or sales, a 50-50 draw, members showing-and-telling, and who knows what else?  And now for the Menu du Jour: Are you a Maloofophile?  Then you'll be thrilled to learn our feature presenter, OWA member Dean Hummel, will talk about his visit to the Sam Maloof House and his building of a Maloof lounge chair with ottoman.
