How to Set Up a Workshop with Vic Tesolin

November 3rd is a special date.  Why?  Because Vic Tesolin is our featured speaker for our Zoom meeting this first Tuesday in November.  Vic built a new woodshop.  He will be taking us on a tour of his shop and sprinkling the tour with knowhow on the important features of a shop.  If you have been thinking of building or improving your workshop, this is a must-attend meeting.  Look for an invitation via email to join the meeting.  It will take place from 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday November 3rd.

Dues PayPal Page Restored

After a bit of a budget review the Executive concluded that dues cannot be reduced this year.  For details on the deliberation, visit the "DUES" page.  Having worked out that dues would remain as they are, the PayPal payment demon was reactivated, so you can now pay dues using PayPal.  Contact our treasurer, Jocelyn Plourde, via ottawa.woodworkers.assoc@gmail.com if you would like to mail cash or a cheque, or pay using an internet bank transfer.  The fees are $50 for regular members and $25 for full-time students.

Third Tuesday of October

Our regular meetings are held on first Tuesdays of each month.  On the third Tuesday in October, the 20th, George is going to hold a Zoom chat with the OWA.  The chat will be informal, and it is designed to collect input from the membership on activities we can hold during these months when face-to-face meetings are not possible.  So that's one objective of the meeting, to collect your ideas and suggestions.  But since we'll all be in our homes, it can also be a bit of a show-and-tell where you can bring your latest opus to the camera, or a shop tour if you carry your laptop-tablet-phone to your shop, or a display of a built-in you were too lazy to disassemble and bring to a meeting...whatever.  Could it be a question-and-answer session?  Why not?  So stay tuned to your mail box where you'll receive an invitation to join that Zoom session, Tuesday 20th of October, 7 PM.

Virtual Woodshow November 6-7-8

In a month's time something called the Virtual Woodshow is going to take place.  One of the presenters is Vic Tesolin, once president and highly visible member of the OWA.  The web site offers a free ticket to the November show. Now Bazz says he signed up for just a few (under 10) dollars a subsription that delivers everything this outfit provides for the entire year.  Click through if you're curious.  If the link does not work, poodle the title of this post.

Dues Collection Covidarily Suspended

If you came here anxious to pay your 2020-21 OWA annual dues, well, have a seat.  Because of Covid19 restrictions, we will not be meeting face to face, and that means the OWA will not be renting space for our meetings.  Given that we are struggling with decisions over what sort of programming we can offer, it makes no sense to collect annual dues.  For this reason, we have suspended our DUES page so that you cannot pay dues online for the time being.  Now if we didn't catch you in time, and you did manage to sneak in a payment using PayPal for the 2020-21 season, we will re-imburse you.  For the most part we are aware you paid, and will reimburse you without you having to do anything.  On the chance you paid and we missed paying you back, email George at georgef@uottawa.ca to let him know the OWA needs to pay you back. If you were a member in good standing (where good standing just means you coughed up the cash) during the 2019-20 season, then you will be considered in good standi
